The Ascension LaserBIRD tracker uses essentially the same communication protocol as the Flock and other Ascension Tech hardware - Except that it does not use the Group protocol. The Group protocol adds one extra byte per packet to identify the reporting receiver. The LaserBIRD has only one receiver, so it does not support the Group protocol.
Current Flock driver expects to see the id byte and matches it with those in the configuration.
Perhaps adding a GROUP configuration flag would be possible? Otherwise a variant driver might be needed (with all the inherent forked code problems)
I may be able to help test this driver, as I have a LaserBird in our collection.
